Mykonos：The Glamour Capital of Greek Paradise

1. Archaeological Museum of Mykonos

The Museum brings to light numerous vases, potteries and clay figures that date as back as the pre historic times. There is also a collection of items of jewelry that was found at the time of excavations and these have been a major source of knowledge about the life that was led in those times. The items displayed here are date from 25th -1st century BC, the period that is roughly called the prehistoric to the late Hellenistic period. There are also urns, grave statues and quite a few finds from Mykonos.

2. Archaeological Museum of Delos

The site is located on the very excavation site of Delos that is accessible from Mykonos through shuttle boat. There are a lot of statues that have been excavated that date back to 6th century BC. The mosaic floors and designs are also splendid. Then of course you have the legends the stories spun around it. There are also two Kouros statues that are the work of Naxians. Most of the statues do not stand as a single piece but still they are great window to the work of art done in those times.

3. Lena’s House

This is a typical nineteenth century Greek house that has been preserved in it most undiluted form and a major attraction among the tourists today. It is complete with furnishings and all decked up windows so as to show the authentic taste of a typical middle-class Greek household with the arrangement of space as they preferred it. The house is named after the last owner of the house and comes with two bedrooms, a large drawing room and two courtyards. The finish is rich antique and the prints, the tapestry and mirrors are simply delightful to watch.

4. Cynthus

This is one of the most scenic and the picturesque sites in Mykonos that is located at on the scared site. There are a lot of stories told about this place that includes a lot of prominent figures of Greek mythology which make it even more sacred for those who are aware of it. But apart from it is offers a great view from the top and that of the Cyclades island that you can have from nowhere else. The ruins from the bygone era are not in great state of preservation but still definitely worth a visit.

5. Agrari Beach

This is one of the iconic beaches in Greece that will acquaint you will the culture here. The white sandy shores with clear waters are simply breathtaking. You can swim, play water sports, enjoy the bar, great food, sun-bed, umbrellas and loads of fun. There will music playing that ensures that you have an eternal party going on here. 6. Kalafati Beach

7. Windmills of Kato Mili

Apart from peaceful beaches, breathtaking views, clear waters of sea, it is the windmills that are also an important part of Mykonian landscape. These can be mostly seen towards the north of the island so as to make use of the Northern winds. These have a significant place in the history of Greece but sadly none of them seem operational today. Even then they have been refurbished and maintained in order to the preserve the relics of the past. Today most of them are either home or store important documentation related to Greece.

8. Armenistis Lighthouse

Situated at one of the most serene and breathtaking backdrop, the lighthouse has been standing a witness it the great maritime history of Mykonos and other surrounding islands of Greece. The octagonal tower of the lighthouse gives it a prominent feature that adds to its beauty. In fact the best part about it is that it is still in operation and is currently comes under the management of Hellenic Navy’s Hydrographic Office.
